Hi there 👋
Hope you're having a great week. Here are some of the marketing and management resources that have been useful for me in the past days. Hope something brings a smile to your face or an idea to your brain!
"If you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else.”
― Toni Morrison

1. Waterslides as funnels
Some really great conversation about the pros and cons of viewing a user journey as a funnel. Love the alternatives they came up with (waterslides: 💯)
2. Why marketing has become the hardest position to hire for
3. How to discover and create content your audience craves (and grow your following)
4. Do you need a work best friend?
5. We're doing quarterly reviews / reflections at Buffer, and one of the pieces is the Gallup Q-12 survey, which asks 12 yes/no questions to gauge the strength of the workplace. Questions include "Do I know what is expected of me at work?" and, interestingly, "Do you have a best friend at work?" (See above.)
More about reviews: We use CultureAmp as our review tool, I get a lot of the self-review survey questions from Reinventing Organizations, we're coupling reviews with personality tests (either Enneagram or Strengths Finder, TBD), and I'm grateful for the community at Rands Leadership Slack group for help and advice to find good review resources.
6. Longform podcast: Craig Mod -- Interesting perspective on tech and design (Craig used to work at Flipboard for a short whilte)
7. I've been really into the data viz content at pudding.cool. Their Birthday Paradox page is really neat.
8. Andrew Chen on growth
"Growth teams commonly make the mistake of picking random, off-the-shelf KPIs without thinking about how they all fit together. First zero in on a strategy for achieving your desired outcome, and then pick high quality metrics to validate your tests."
9. Storytelling lessons from Bugs Bunny and friends
10. 🚨Remote jobs alert 🚨
Best wishes if you go for any of these jobs:
Animalz is hiring a Content Manager
The Lean Startup is hiring a Digital Marketer
Wishing you a great week,
Kevan
