August / Best of
I took a quick poll last month to see if people prefer monthly newsletters or weekly/daily ones. Can you guess the outcome? People prefer weekly/daily to monthly newsletters — but by a slim margin, 60% to 40%. I might start playing around with the frequency of this email a bit more, so do let me know if you're hearing from me too much ... or not enough. :P
Have a great August!

The Dark Forest Theory of the Internet
Really interesting stuff from former Kickstarter CEO Yancey Strickler (there's a podcast episode about it, too.) I found it useful to think about this in context to how my teammates feel with a job that keeps them on the Internet so often.
In response to the ads, the tracking, the trolling, the hype, and other predatory behaviors, we’re retreating to our dark forests of the internet, and away from the mainstream.
